Republican Candidate Newt Gingrich Inflated Ego and Arrogance Kicked out of Virginia Primary

Cry baby "no Virginia for you"

In 1985, Gingrich told the Washington Post: "I have enormous personal ambition. I want to shift the planet. And I'm doing it." In 1994, just the other day, at the Iowa statehouse, he gave himself credit for helping defeat the Soviet Empire.
"You did an ABC interview where you said 'I am gonna be the nominee.' I have been for you, and have been a big fan," Turner told Gingrich when he and his wife stopped to chat with voters at the Hy-Vee supermarket in Mount Pleasant. "But that felt a little bit presumptuous."
"It was a mistake," he said. "I used to be an analyst at Fox and every once in awhile a reporter will ask me an analytical question and I will forget, I am not an analyst, I'm a candidate."
Republican Gingrich out of Virginia primary election
Leading Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has failed to meet the requirements to be in the presidential primary election in Virginia, where he resides, the state's Republican Party said.
The Virginia Republican Party also said Texas Governor Rick Perry's petitions also had failed to qualify him for the ballot. Only former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Texas Congressman Ron Paul qualified.

Mitt Romney is Hated by Many Republicans a Mystery

Why many parties in the country they will favor Newt Gingrich over Mitt Romney by wide margine? What is the reason? one wonders?

Michelle Bachmann: Iran would use nuke against United States, Israel

Mad woman Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, took a hard line over the possibility of Iran building its own nuclear weapon, saying that all options should be open to the United States and other Western powers, including military action.
"I would have every alternative and option on the table, because Iran must never have a nuclear weapon," Bachmann said during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"Because they have stated unequivocally, once they gain a nuclear weapon, they will use that weapon to wipe Israel off of the map and they will use it against the United States."
Bachmann, who is running for the GOP presidential nomination, also said that if was important for American officials to heed the words of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Ahmadinejad has threatened the United States, Israel and other nations opposed to Iran's nuclear weapons program.
"If there is anything that history has taught us in the last 100 years, it is this - when a madman speaks, we should listen," Bachmann said. "I take this threat very seriously."
Bachmann lashed out at GOP Rep. Ron Paul (Texas), who said during the last Republican presidential debate that fears of Iran's nuke program are overstated.
"The problem with Ron Paul is that his statements were very dangerous," Bachmann said.

Let's remember, Newt famously dumped wife #1 for wife #2 while wife #1 was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. As in literally went to the hospital to present her with divorce papers while she was recovering from surgery for uterine cancer.

He eventually dumped wife #2 for wife #3 shortly after wife #2 was diagnosed with MS back in 1999. And he was having the affair on wife #2 with wife #3 while he was turning the country upside down trying to drive Bill Clinton from office over his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Gingrich worse against Obama than Romney: poll

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Newt Gingrich holds a 10-point lead in the fight for the Republican presidential nomination, but he would fare worse against President Barack Obama than Republican Mitt Romney, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

With the first nominating contest in Iowa less than three weeks away, Gingrich leads Romney among Republican voters nationwide by 28 percent to 18 percent, the poll found.

However, the poll raises questions about whether Gingrich -- a former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives who has shot to the top of Republican opinion polls in recent weeks -- would be able to defeat Obama.

The poll found that if the November 2012 presidential election were held today, Obama would defeat Gingrich, 51 percent to 38 percent. By contrast, Obama would defeat Romney by a narrower margin, 48 percent to 40 percent.

Analysts say the results reflect the risk that Republicans could face if they nominate Gingrich, whose strong performances in debates have won him support among conservatives seeking an alternative to Romney.

Gingrich has a long record of making provocative statements that could alienate independent voters, such as when he recently referred to Palestinians as an "invented" people.

Goodbye Bachmann and Go Back to Minnesota

Silly smile.

Ever since Rick Perry entered the 2012 race for president, Michele Bachmann’s fortunes have been heading south, not to South Carolina but into the political basement. The latest USA Today/Gallup poll shows that Bachmann is now polling in single digits compared to Rick Perry who is garnering a 31% favorability rating. That amounts to a 13% drop off for Bachmann since August. .

Fourth accuser urges Herman Cain to ‘come clean’ about harassment

A fourth woman has accused Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain of sexual harassment--this time in public. Sharon Bialek told reporters in a press conference Monday that Cain groped her and exhibited "sexually inappropriate" behavior toward her when he was head of the National Restaurant Association.

Bialek, a former NRA employee who worked for the association in between 1996 and 1997, said the encounter occurred shortly after she was laid off from the group's education fund in July 1997.

She said she had approached Cain for help in looking for a new job and had traveled to Washington, D.C., where she had dinner with the then-NRA head. She told reporters that upon her arrival in D.C. she discovered that Cain had secretly upgraded her hotel room to a suite.

After dinner, the two were sitting in his car when she claimed he "suddenly reached over and put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals" and moved her head toward his crotch.

"I was surprised and shocked, and I said, what are you doing? You know I have a boyfriend," Bialek recalled saying. "This is not what I came here for."

Bialak claimed that when she protested, Cain replied, "You want a job, right?

She told reporters Cain backed off after she asked him to stop, and he drove her back to her hotel.

Bialek, who identified herself as a stay-at-home single mom who lives in Chicago and is a registered Republican, said she didn't file a complaint with the NRA in part because she was no longer formally employed by the group--and also because she was "very embarrassed." She was joined at the press conference by her attorney, celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, who offered sworn affidavits from two friends to whom Bialek spoke shortly after the alleged encounter.

"I was very very surprised and very shocked," Bialek said, adding that she had come forward to be a "face" for women who had been harassed by Cain. "I want you, Mr. Cain, to come clean. Just admit what you did. Admit you were inappropriate to people ... I implore you. Make this right."

The Cain campaign issued a statement denying Bialek's claims.

"All allegations of harassment against Mr. Cain are completely false," the campaign said in a statement. " Mr. Cain has never harassed anyone."

Bialek is the fourth woman to accuse Cain of sexual harassment when he was head of the NRA, but she's the only accuser who has spoken publicly.

Rick Perry Flip Flops on Immigration and Social Security

http://washingtonindependent.com/110002/rick-perry-flip-flops-on-immigration
As the Republican governor of Texas, Rick Perry has walked both sides of the immigration line, at one point implementing a Texas-style Dream Act that some say was the model for the national act. On the other hand, he’s authorized local police to inquire about the immigration status of anyone they come in contact with.
http://washingtonindependent.com/
http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2011/08/29/306230/rick-perry-medicare-flip-flop/
When Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) released his book Fed Up! in late 2010, one of his main critiques was that, over the past 50 years, the federal government has misconstrued the Constitution to establish “the massive programs of Medicare and Medicaid.” Now that he’s running for president, Perry is trying to sing a different tune on Medicare.
I don’t think our founding fathers when they were putting the term “general welfare” in there were thinking about a federally operated program of pensions nor a federally operated program of health care. What they clearly said was that those were issues that the states need to address. Not the federal government. I stand very clear on that.

The electoral college disadvantage

The electoral college is often considered to be an outdated system of popular voting. It requires a state population to select electors to vote for the popular candidate. Electors represent a group of people in the population of the state. The higher the population a state has, the more electors it is allocated to send. In most cases, it is not representative of the United States population as a whole, but rather a handful of critically important "battleground states".

These states include Texas, Florida, California, and New York. Once a presidential candidate secures most of these states, he/she is almost guaranteed a win as these states have the highest population. In most elections, smaller states are given a less important voice in the subject matter as they are usually unconsidered by candidates running for president.

Texas is quick sentencing people for murder and Execution.. Did Governor Rick Perry exucute innocents

A Texas man imprisoned for 25 years in the beating death of his wife will walk free this week after new DNA evidence linked another man to the crime, the prosecutor told Reuters on Monday.

Michael Morton was expected to be exonerated in the 1986 murder for which he was serving a life sentence and will be freed on bond pending a ruling on the new evidence by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Williamson County District Attorney John Bradley said.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney says Obama owes the George W. Bush administration an apology.

Age catching on with droopy eyes.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney says that following the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, President Obama owes the George W. Bush administration an apology.

Cheney, speaking on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday, offered support for the targeted killing by drone strike last week of the Yemeni-American radical cleric al-Awlaki, but he said that Obama now needs to reverse his past criticism of how the Bush administration interrogated suspected terrorists.

The Obama administration "in effect had said that we had walked away from our ideals or taken policy contrary to our ideals when we had enhanced interrogation techniques," the former vice president said. Al-Awlaki's death indicates that members of the Obama administration "clearly have moved in the direction of taking robust action when they feel it's justified," Cheney said.

"You'd like an apology, it sounds like?" host Candy Crowley asked the former vice president.

"Well I would," Cheney responded, "I think that would be a--not for me--but I think for the Bush administration."

Hall Mark Supreme Court Decisions

http://library.thinkquest.org/11572/cc/index.html
http://beebo.org/smackerels/supreme-court-decisions.html

Senator Bernie Sanders on Social Security

epublicans hate Social Security because it has been an extraordinary success and has done exactly what it was designed to do. It is the most successful government program in our nation's history and is enormously popular.

When Social Security was developed, 50 percent of seniors lived in poverty. Today, that number is 10 percent - still too high, but a testament to the success of Social Security.

Republicans have spent years demonizing Social Security and spreading lies about its sustainability. They want to scare Americans and build support for making drastic cuts to the program or privatizing it entirely. Their long-term goal is to end Social Security as we know it, and convert it into a private account system which will enable Wall Street to make hundreds of billions in profits.

The truth is that, today, according to the Social Security Administration, Social Security has a $2.7 trillion surplus and can pay out every benefit owed to every eligible American for the next 25 years.

Further, because it is funded by the payroll tax and not the US Treasury, Social Security has not contributed one nickel to our deficit.

Now - in a prolonged recession that has decimated the poor and middle class and pushed more Americans into poverty than at any point in modern history - we need to strengthen Social Security. That's why I, along with nine co-sponsors, have introduced the "Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act." This legislation would lift the Social Security Payroll tax cap on all income over $250,000 a year, would require millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share into the Social Security Trust Fund, and would extend the program for the next 75 years.

Join me now as a citizen co-sponsor of the Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act.

For 76 years, through good times and bad, Social Security has paid out every benefit owed to every eligible American. The most effective way to strengthen Social Security for the next 76 years is to scrap the payroll tax cap for those earning $250,000 a year or more.

Right now, someone who earns $106,800 pays the same amount of money into Social Security as billionaires like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. That is because today, all income above $106,800 is exempt from the Social Security tax. As a result, 94% of Americans pay Social Security tax on all of their income, but the wealthiest 6% do not.

That makes no sense.

The "Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act" will ensure the long-term solvency of Social Security without cutting benefits, raising the retirement age or raising taxes on the middle class.

Join me and Democracy for America in fighting to strengthen Social Security - Sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the Keeping Our Social Security Promises Act.

Social Security is keeping tens of millions of seniors out of poverty today. I can think of no more important issue facing our country today than making sure that Social Security remains strong for generations to come.

US Senator from Vermont

Obama Stimulus and What it Did?

The Republican presidential candidates have plenty of ideas. Unfortunately, most are based in political ideology rather than facts.

What this country needs is a conversation about potential government action that actually works to stimulate the economy short-term and long-term. That isn’t what voters are getting.

At every turn candidates advocate tax cuts, adhering to the idea that they will lead to new investments and create private-sector jobs. “It’s never happened. It’s never happened in the way they fantasize about,” said Iowa State University economist David Swenson. What tax cuts absolutely do: reduce revenue to the U.S. Treasury, which exacerbates the country’s deficits and debt.

Then there’s the push for “smaller government.” The country is witnessing right now how that impacts the economy. Every month this year government jobs were lost, offsetting employment gains in other sectors. In August, 17,000 government jobs were lost. Those are real Americans losing real jobs. A new report from the Census Bureau shows there were over 200,000 fewer state and local government jobs in 2010 than 2009.

Add to that the misguided rhetoric about the impact of current government policies from candidates, including Michele Bachmann. During a recent visit to a traffic-signal plant in Waterloo, she said the company was an example of how President Barack Obama’s policies are “continuing to dig us deeper into the hole toward another recession.”

The truth: As much as 80 percent of OMJC Signal Inc.’s revenue comes from government purchases. Stimulus spending to build infrastructure, including roads, has helped the company thrive in the past few years.

Yet candidates continue to insist the stimulus package didn’t work, even though the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office recently reported the stimulus funded 550,000 jobs in the second quarter of 2011. It shored up state Medicaid programs so people could go to the doctor. It provided unemployment benefits so people could buy gasoline. It funded needed infrastructure projects.

According to the budget office, the programs that provided the greatest boost to the economy, as measured by GDP gains, were direct purchases made by the federal government, money sent to states for everything from housing assistance to highway construction, and direct help to individuals. This included unemployment compensation, food assistance and student aid.

What yielded the smallest benefit? Tax cuts for high-income individuals and corporations.

There is much debate over what the government should do at this moment in history. Ask one economist and you’ll get one answer. Ask another and you’ll get a different answer. But ask a politician and you’ll get an answer tainted by a political agenda.

That is not what this country needs to move forward

Mitt Romney on Social Security he did not Call it Criminal rather the Way the Collected Sums are used for other Purposes

“Let’s look at what would happen if someone in the private sector did a similar thing. Suppose two grandparents created a trust fund, appointed a bank as trustee, and instructed the bank to invest the proceeds of the trust fund so as to provide for their grandchildren’s education. Suppose further that the bank used the proceeds for its own purposes, so that when the grandchildren turned eighteen, there was no money for them to go to college. What would happen to the bankers responsible for misusing the money? They would go to jail. But what has happened to the people responsible for the looming bankruptcy of Social Security? They keep returning to Congress every two years.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry in Time Wrap the Palestinian - Israeli Issue

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/rick-perrys-newbie-mistake-on-the-israeli-palestinian-conflict/2011/09/16/gIQAvIHKYK_blog.html

Question: Do you believe there should be a Palestinian state?

“I certainly have some concerns. The first step in any peaceful negotiation for a two-state solution for the Palestinians is to recognize the right of Israel’s existence. They have to denounce terrorism in both word and deed. And they have to sit down and negotiate with Israel directly. Anything short of that is a non-starter in my opinion.”

— Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), in an interview with Time magazine, Sept. 15, 2011

Handling the Israeli-Palestinian relationship is one of the most delicate and time-consuming tasks faced by a U.S. president, as demonstrated by this week’s drama concerning the Palestinian push for recognition as a state by the United Nations. In fact, one can argue that missteps early in President Obama’s tenure have helped lead the administration to the crisis it now faces today.

That’s why Perry’s comments to Time magazine struck us as interesting and potentially revealing. How deep is his understanding of this long-running conflict?

The Facts

Perry’s statement had three parts: Palestinians must recognize Israel’s existence; they have to denounce terrorism; they have to negotiate with Israel directly. “Anything short of that is a non-starter in my opinion,” he declared.

Perry is stuck in a time warp. He’s describing a situation that existed in the 1980s, not really today. (Some people might argue about some of that, but we will explain below.)

As part of the 1993 Oslo accords, in an exchange of letters between then Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, the Palestine Liberation Organization met all of these conditions nearly 20 years ago. The letters are posted on the Web site of the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

“The PLO recognizes the right of the State of Israel to exist in peace and security,” the letter from Arafat said. “The PLO commits itself to the Middle East peace process, and to a peaceful resolution of the conflict between the two sides and declares that all outstanding issues relating to permanent status will be resolved through negotiations. … Accordingly, the PLO renounces the use of terrorism and other acts of violence and will assume responsibility over all PLO elements and personnel in order to assure their compliance, prevent violations and discipline violators.”

In 1996, by a vote of 504 to 54, the Palestinian National Council removed the sections in the Palestinian charter that had denied Israel’s right to exist.

Ironically, on the same day Perry’s remarks to Time were published, an opinion article appeared under Perry’s name in the Jerusalem Post. The article — surely written by a more knowledgeable campaign aide — made reference to the Oslo Accords and noted that “the Palestinian leadership has dealt directly with Israel since 1993, but has refused to do so since March 2010.”

One can certainly make an argument that the Palestinians have not always lived up to ending terrorism “by deed” (though the Palestinian security forces have been much improved in recent years.) One can also argue that Palestinians need to return to direct talks.

The PLO has long recognized Israel’s existence — though not the militant group Hamas that controls the Gaza Strip, so maybe that’s what Perry meant. Israeli officials in recent years have also demanded Palestinian recognition of Israel as a “Jewish state” — which Palestinians have refused — but Perry did not make that distinction.

Just to be sure, we sent Perry’s remarks to three experts on Middle East diplomacy — an Israeli, a Palestinian and an American. All three said he appeared to be remarkably uninformed.

We contacted Perry’s spokesman for an explanation but as usual he did not respond. (The Perry campaign has become a fact-free zone, not responding to Fact Checker queries, ever since Perry received Four Pinocchios for his comments on climate change.)

To some extent, we regard Perry’s remarks as a newbie mistake. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has its own diplomatic code, and it takes time and effort to understand it. Still, his comments suggest he needs a few more briefings before he opines again on the subject

All but Confusion in the third Republican Debate Personal Attacks and American Voters Confusion September-2011

Orlando, Florida September 23-2011

"It's not the first time that Mitt's been wrong on some issues before," Perry declared.
Romney, in turn, accused Perry of trying to backtrack on his controversial statements about Social Security in his most recent book, including his suggestion that the program is a "Ponzi scheme."
Romney repeatedly sought to cast the Texas governor as candidate confused by his own positions and words.
"There's a Rick Perry out there that's saying that . . . the federal government shouldn't be in the pension business,"
But Perry refused to let Romney have the last word and accused the former Massachusetts governor of switching positions on health care.
"My next-door neighbor's two dogs have created more shovel-ready jobs than this current administration," Johnson declared
Both Bachmann and Romney slammed Perry for backing legislation in Texas that allowed the children of illegal immigrants to attend state colleges and universities at the in-state tuition rates—a criticism Perry slammed as heartless.
"If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than they've been brought there by no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart," Perry said
"It's an argument I just can't follow," the ex-governor said.

Evil Republican Richard J. Riordan Former Mayor of Los Angeles

39th Mayor of Los Angeles (1993-2001)
This evil Republican devil fought tooth and nail to deny workers at food concensions living wages. He vetoed any living wages he was over turned. Now workers at food concessions at airport are paid #10.59 an hour with health benefits and $14,50 without health benefitsand in additions 12 days annual vacation.
May god burn this Republican in hell.

Restaurants

Richard Riordan is also a restaurant owner. Prior to becoming Mayor, he purchased the Original Pantry Cafe in Downtown Los Angeles. He also owns Riordan's Tavern, a wood paneled restaurant and bar next door to The Pantry. In Pacific Palisades, California, he owns Gladstones 4 Fish and acquired long-time traditional hangout Mort's Deli, angering some locals when he re-opened it as The Village Pantry.
